OK, so let's talk about the Dodgers bullpen.
Let's start this conversation out with a basic point.
Tanner Scott is not the answer. Why Dave Roberts keeps sending him out there to get the job done in critical moments is stupifying. Scott has blown nine save opportunities this season. That's NINE!
Scott not only gave up the game-winning home run against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night, he was not able to record one out on Saturday night. All he needed to do was get one out and could not do it.
I'm sure Roberts will have some reasons for his decision when meeting with reporters after Saturday night's game.
"Blake had a bad night," Roberts said, speaking of reliever Blake Treinen, who came into the game after Yoshinobu Yamamoto lost his no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning. “When you walk two guys and you can't put guys away, it’s hard to say you’re snakebit. You make your own breaks. … He wasn’t good tonight. Very uncharacteristic, but it happened."
To have Treinen and Scott melt down after Yamamoto's outing is a crime. Treinen has been pretty steady, though, in relief appearances. Scott? Not so much.
I'd imagine if Dodgers Nation sees him again anytime soon, it'll make them turn off their TVs and radios.
On Sunday, the Dodgers will try and salvage a win against the Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
By the way, the Dodgers are still in first place in the National League West Division.
