Dodgers Sit Right At Top Of Early MLB Power Rankings cover image

Not much of a surprise to see Los Angeles at top of rankings from MLB's website.

With the Los Angeles Dodgers looking for a third straight World Series championship, is it a surprise to see them atop the early MLB Power Rankings?

Hardly. The Dodgers deserve that honor. After all, the entire organization - from top to bottom - has become a beacon of success.

When looking at some early MLB Power Rankings, Will Leitch of MLB.com decided that the Dodgers were the top team among all 30 teams.

"The Dodgers are getting older, particularly in the lineup, which is why you really can’t take your eyes off them this offseason: You can sense them lurking in the weeds on a lot of free agents," Leitch wrote.

"Either way, they’re the favorites to win a third straight World Series title, even if they stand pat for the rest of the winter (which they surely won’t)."

Dodgers fans know that the organization is always looking to improve. That's one reason for the fans to celebrate. They understand that in order to keep ahead of the competition, a team has to get better.

They decided in the offseason to go and get free-agent reliever Edwin Díaz, who was in the market after wrapping up some success with the New York Mets. Look for Díaz to come bounding out of the bullpen in the ninth inning a lot in the 2026 MLB season.

Yet the team also knows that having a steady, veteran presence helps, too.

First baseman Freddie Freeman has been outstanding while playing for Los Angeles. Before he came to put on a Dodgers uniform, Freeman had a World Series ring on his finger from winning one with the Atlanta Braves.

Freeman continues to display a level of professionalism and decency. His story of dealing with a child's illness, and how Freeman went about it all, showed just what type of person Freeman is away from the baseball diamond.

The Dodgers definitely are the team to beat in MLB in 2026. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts wants a third straight World Series championship, just as much as his players and front office.

Can Los Angeles pull off the World Series "hat trick," if you will? They've got a potent lineup and probably will make another move or two for an impact player.

Remember: The Dodgers are still considered a potential landing spot for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. Can you see Skubal in the rotation alongside Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell? That would be dynamite.

So, the "kings" of MLB are the team that all teams will look to knock off.
