While those spring training fields are getting prepared for the Los Angeles Dodgers to hit them soon, the Dodgers have quite a 40-man roster prepared to go win another World Series championship.
Los Angeles has a ton of pitching, which Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and the pitching coaches will have to take a closer look at when things get busy.
Before spring training, though, let's do a quick overview of the 40-man roster as it is today.
Pitching-wise, Los Angeles has Anthony Banda, Ben Casparius, newcomer Edwin Diaz, Jack Dreyer, and Tyler Glasnow among them. Of course, there's Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, Emmet Sheehan, Blake Treinen, and Alex Vesia also on the pitching staff.
What about Shohei Ohtani? Oh, don't fret, Dodgers fans. Ohtani is just listed as Los Angeles' lone two-way player who sees time on the mound as well as being the team's designated hitter.
Will Smith and Dalton Rushing anchor the Dodgers' catching duties.
How is the infield situation shaping up? Quite nicely. Among those playing the infield include Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Hyeseong Kim, Max Muncy, Miguel Rojas, Tommy Edman, and Alex Freeland.
Among outfielders listed on the Dodgers' 40-man roster include Alex Call, Andy Pages, Michael Siani, Teoscar Hernandez, and Ryan Ward.
These are the players that Roberts will have to shape into another solid team entering the 2026 MLB season.
Can Los Angeles win a third straight World Series championship with this roster? I think they could do it. Of course, the Dodgers would love to add some outfield support or even infield depth. Names like Bo Bichette are still being bandied about from the free agent market.
Whether the Dodgers add Bichette or another big-name outfielder remains to be seen.
What Los Angeles has with this current group is a lot of veteran experience. These players have been through the regular-season and postseason wars together. They've bonded over success and failure, too.
Getting that bullpen into better shape received a big boost when the team signed free-agent reliever Diaz in the offseason. That immediately gave Roberts a chance to look at having someone really be a solid set-up guy. There's a chance, according to some recent reports, that Scott might get that crucial set-up man spot.
With all of that being said, the Dodgers have a lot of players to look at when spring training starts.
Roberts and his coaching staff are going to watch their players closely to make sure they are healthy and stay that way all through spring training.
