Well, the San Francisco Giants did not get swept in their four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Trevor McDonald was outstanding in his MLB debut, but it wasn't until the Giants hitters squared up against Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen that things changed.

The Giants scored a 3-1 victory over Los Angeles at Dodgers Stadium. Los Angeles starter Emmet Sheehan was great, too, as he kept the Giants in check while he was out there.

In the eighth inning, Christian Koss and Drew Gilbert drew back-to-back walks off Treinen, according to MLB.com. Pinch-hitter Patrick Bailey came through with a run-run double to tie the game at 1-1. Los Angeles chose to load the bases by intentionally walking Rafael Devers.

Willy Adames made the Dodgers pay by drawing a bases-loaded walk to give San Francisco a 2-1 lead. Matt Chapman had an RBI groundout to put the Giants up 3-1.

McDonald was on his game, firing six-plus innings of one-run ball.

For those Giants fans keeping up with some postseason hopes, the Giants are now within three games of the slumping New York Mets for that final National League Wild Card spot.

There are six games left in the regular season for San Francisco and the Mets hold the tiebreaker between the two teams.

The Giants' recent slump has not been helpful for their postseason hopes. Sometimes, though, things happen that make the impossible truly possible.

    Time's running out, though.
