The Los Angeles Dodgers ignited a 15-hit offensive explosion to dismantle the San Francisco Giants' pitching staff.
The San Francisco Giants won a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers from April 21-23, and then split a four-game slate from May 11-14, but they've officially lost four in a row against the back-to-back World Series Champions.
Having to play the Dodgers six times in the last nine games is never easy, and that's being proven here in their third series of the year.
The Dodgers are simply on another level, and they're hungry for a first-round bye in the playoffs as they have a ton of injured players who could use the rest.
The Dodgers won 10-4 as that was the final score in game two, meaning the Dodgers have now outscored the Giants 18-6 in this series.
Despite this being a 2-2 game going into the bottom of the third, the Dodgers would score in the first through sixth innings, including three runs in both the fifth and the sixth as part of a 15-hit night.
Giants pitching staff had no answers
Duncan Davitt was the lone bright spot in this game as he allowed just one hit and got through the final 2.1 innings in just 36 pitches.
Obviously, the damage had been done by that point, and that was thanks to Yunior Marte getting picked apart in his 4.2-inning start, and then Philip Abner and Joel Kuhnel gave up four combined runs.
While Abner's run was unearned, he allowed a walk and two hits in an 11-pitch appearance that required him to record only one out.
Kuhnel followed in the sixth inning, but he got picked apart with four hits and three runs, though only one of those was earned. The veteran needed to throw 26 pitches to record two outs before being replaced by Davitt.
Marte earned his first career loss as he gave up six earned runs on eight hits. The 23-year-old allowed three walks and only struck out two batters, and it's also worth noting he gave up a leadoff homer to Will Smith in the third inning.
Remember, the game was 2-2 at that point, but Smith only needed two pitches for the Dodgers to reclaim the lead.
Victor Bericoto homered off Tarik Skubal
Tarik Skubal may have picked up the win in this one, but Victor Bericoto hit a two-run blast off of him in the third inning for his fifth career homer.
The 24-year-old had one of the Giants' eight hits off Skubal, and while they tagged him with four earned runs, he still improved to 11-7 on the year.
Bericoto also doubled off Skubal as did Brett Harris and Jung Hoo Lee.
