Right-hander Gregory Santos will join San Francisco Giants' pitching staff, while Blade Tidwell was optioned to Triple-A.

Ahead of Wednesday's game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, the San Francisco Giants made a couple of moves that affect their pitching staff.

The ballclub announced that pitcher Gregory Santos has been called up from Triple-A Sacramento, while Blade Tidwell has been sent down to the River Cats.

In another move, outfielder Jared Oliva has been transferred to the 60-day Injured List.

Tidwell's most recent outing for the Giants was on Tuesday night, when he worked two innings in relief of Giants starter Tyler Mahle.

Tidwell gave up four hits and two runs (both earned), walked one, and struck out two. The No. 10 prospect in the Giants' system heads out at this moment with a 3.00 ERA.

Santos has some major-league experience, having last played in the majors with the Seattle Mariners. In 2023, Santos appeared in 60 games, working 66 1/3 innings and getting 66 strikeouts with a 1.30 WHIP.

But, in the last two MLB seasons, Santos only appeared in eight games both seasons. After putting up a 3.39 ERA in 2023 with the Chicago White Sox, that statistic soared to 4.91 in 2024 and 5.14 in 2025 with the Mariners.

Injuries in his two seasons with Seattle kept Santos on the sidelines during most of his tenure there. The Giants signed Santos to a minor-league contract in the offseason.

Santos relies on just two pitches, a slider and a sinker. Giants manager Tony Vitello probably hopes that Santos brings those two in an effective way when he takes the mound in Giants colors.

This is not the first time, though, that Santos has worn a Giants uniform. He pitched in a handful of games for the ballclub back in 2021 and 2022.

In 81 career MLB games, Santos has a 3-6 record with a career 4.17 ERA.

Wednesday Start Time Moved Up

Just a few hours before Wednesday's game, the Phillies announced that the start time was being moved up 30 minutes due to inclement weather due in Philadelphia.

First pitch is now set for 5:10 p.m. ET (3:10 p.m. PT).

Logan Webb will get the start for the Giants, while Cristopher Sánchez takes the hill for the Phillies.

Webb comes into Wednesday's game with a 2-3 record, a 4.86 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.38. Webb has walked 13 while striking out 32 this season. Sánchez is 2-2 for the Phillies, who will play their second game under interim manager Don Mattingly.

In case you didn't know, the Phillies fired manager Rob Thomson on Tuesday after the ballclub got off to a really rough start this season.

So, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Co. will see if they can make it two wins in a row under Mattingly's managerial style on Wednesday night.
