As the start of the 2026 MLB regular season is just about around the corner, all 30 MLB teams are going to be looking at their farm systems.
Questions about how they shape up, what prospects are looking good, and whether there is enough depth in them are at the top of an organization's thoughts.
For the San Francisco Giants, their farm system has been fluctuating around the middle of the MLB Farm Systems list compiled by MLB.com for some time.
A new article from MLB.com, put together with a lot of help from their MLB Pipeline staff, slots the Giants' farm system in No 19 among all 30 MLB franchises. The article also highlights first baseman Bryce Eldridge and shortstop Josuar Gonzalez among the top 100 prospects in baseball.
Eldridge is a phenom who has been working hard to turn heads left and right with his time at the plate and work in the field.
Back in 2024 in the preseason Farm Systems list, the Giants were ranked at No. 17. Then, in a midseason 2024 list, San Francisco dropped to No. 23. Last season's preseason list had the Giants at No. 28, a drop of five spots. Yet, by the 2025 midseason updated list, San Francisco was at No. 18.
"The Giants made the fourth-biggest jump from our pre-2025 rankings, moving up nine spots, and they're poised for another leap this season," according to the MLB.com article.
"They have the game's best power prospect in Eldridge and the top international amateur from each of the past two classes in Gonzalez and fellow shortstop Luis Hernández," the article indicated.
"Their group of potential Top 100 shortstops also extends to Jhonny Level and Gavin Kilen, and they have several other candidates to join the list in the near future, including outfielders Dakota Jordan and Bo Davidson and left-hander Jacob Bresnahan," the MLB.com article stated.
How is Eldridge doing in Spring Training for the Giants this season? He's 6-for-22 at the plate with one home run and five runs scored. Eldridge also has five RBIs to his credit as well. His Spring Training slash line is .273/.385/1.021.
It's looking like Eldridge might have a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster out of Spring Training, but it remains uncertain at this time. If he sticks with the big-league club, then he's going to get a chance to help San Francisco get out of a rut.
Hopefully, the Giants can get back on a winning track. At least, that's the hope of Giants manager Tony Vitello and his staff.
Let's see if Eldridge might be able to put together a breakout season for San Francisco. And, Giants fans can pay attention to how the franchise's Farm Systems ranking might improve, or not, throughout the 2026 MLB season.
