Willy Adames leads off for the San Francisco Giants in their exhibition game against Team USA.
The San Francisco Giants' social media team was busy on Tuesday morning, getting Giants fans ready and informed for the team's exhibition game against Team USA.
Of course, Team USA will be heading to Houston soon to start Pool Play as part of the World Baseball Classic. But, on Tuesday, Team USA was hitting the diamond for some action against the Bay Area ballclub.
Willy Adames gets the leadoff spot and he'll play at shortstop. Adames is followed on Giants manager Tony Vitello's lineup card by third baseman Matt Chapman and catcher Patrick Bailey.
Designated hitter Victor Bericoto will be in the cleanup role on Tuesday. He'll be followed by left fielder Will Brennan and Grant McCray in right field.
Second baseman Christian Koss will bat seventh. First baseman Bryce Eldridge will be in the No. 8 hole and center fielder Jared Oliva rounds out the lineup card for the Giants. Adrian Houser gets the start for the Giants, too.
Now, the Giants might think that this exhibition game will be a walk in the park.
Not so fast, Giants fans.
Team USA is going to throw out there Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes to start against San Francisco. Skenes has been turning heads all around the MLB world since he splashed onto the MLB scene.
Skenes has a wicked fastball and an arsenal of pitches that will keep Giants hitters guessing when they step into the batter's box.
Oh, if you want to watch Skenes duel with the Giants on TV, then ESPN has you covered. ESPN will be showing the game, which has a first pitch scheduled for 3:08 p.m. ET. Giants fans who want to listen to the radio call can tune into KNBR 680 AM/104.5 FM and listen to the home team's call.
Giants fans also can check out coverage on the radio station's live stream online if they're not near a radio in the Bay Area.
Besides Skenes, some other MLB stars also are playing for Team USA and might see some time on the field on Tuesday. Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Cal Raleigh, the "Big Dumper" himself, of the Seattle Mariners, and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies also are on Team USA.
Let's see how the Giants fare against a loaded Team USA lineup. This will be a great test for San Francisco, too. It'll give Vitello an opportunity to see how his players are going to look once the regular season starts in earnest.
