Spring Training Around the Corner for San Francisco Giants cover image

It's February, time for San Francisco Giants to report to Arizona for Cactus League action.

As the calendar turns to February, MLB fans across the United States and around the world can get ready to see the San Francisco Giants report to Spring Training.

The Giants hold their Spring Training in Scottsdale, Ariz. The team's initial Spring Training game will take place on Feb. 21 against the Seattle Mariners. This should be a good matchup for San Francisco. It'll be the first time that Giants manager Tony Vitello has run a ballclub in the majors.

Additionally, players like Heliot Ramos and Rafael Devers, along with pitchers like Logan Webb, can start flexing their muscles and get in shape.

It's been a long winter for Giants fans, who are looking forward to seeing San Francisco finish with a winning record this season. They also wouldn't mind seeing the Giants be a serious contender for the National League West Division title.

That's been pretty much owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers in recent years. San Francisco decided to make a switch at the managerial role after last season. Bob Melvin was in the dugout as manager for two seasons, but couldn't lift the team into a serious conversation for postseason play.

Spring Training will be interesting this season. What will Vitello truly stress on his players to work on in Arizona? They better work on simple things like moving runners over into scoring position, making key throws to cutoff guys, and others.

If you're a Giants fan and looking for a special day to attend a game, then maybe March 1 might work. That's when Dog Days are celebrated at Scottsdale Stadium. "All Giants fans and their furry friends are invited to Scottsdale Stadium on Sunday, March 1 as the Giants take on the San Diego Padres," according to the Giants' website.

Imagine sitting there, watching the Giants play the Padres, and your favorite pooch is being treated like a king or queen. That's not a bad idea at all. It's a pretty fun one, giving San Francisco fans in Arizona a reason to head out and watch the ballclub.

It all sounds so simple. Like, players just show up and start playing. But, when a player hasn't done it for a while, then getting those reps in at Spring Training can go a long, long way.

So, let's see how Vitello gets his players going from the get-go. He probably wants to jump off to a fast start, especially in Spring Training. That's not a bad idea from top to bottom in the Giants' lineup.

Now, it's "go time" for the San Francisco ballclub.
