Upcoming Spring Training schedule keeps San Francisco Giants busy with different matchups.

Outfielder Drew Gilbert and the San Francisco Giants are going to be quite busy as the Cactus League schedule rapidly comes to a close.

On Wednesday, Gilbert will lead off as the Giants go up against the Kansas City Royals. Gilbert has gone 3-for-12 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored for San Francisco. He'll look to get a couple of base knocks on Wednesday to boost up his average.

What lies ahead for the Giants after playing the Royals? Well, on Thursday, San Francisco goes up against the Chicago White Sox in a home game. Then, on Friday, in another home game, the Giants will host the Cincinnati Reds in a split-squad game. Also on Friday, the Giants send a split squad to the Reds' Spring Training home.

On Saturday and Sunday, San Francisco will host the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers, respectively.

Entering Wednesday's game, the Giants are 14-3 in Cactus League play. That is a pretty incredible record for a team learning how play under first-year manager Tony Vitello.

And, there are some players still trying to prove that they are worthy of being on the 40-man roster once camp ends.

But the Giants have shipped some players to their minor-league camps. Therefore, whoever is left right now either has a spot sewn up or is really looking to impress Vitello and the rest of the Giants' coaching staff.

Entering this season, there's an urgency for San Francisco to put things together in a solid way. The Giants don't want to post another losing record. There have been some changes made to make sure that doesn't happen.

Probably the biggest change, of course, took place in the managerial position. By now, the Giants' fan base knows that Vitello came from a successful tenure as head coach of the University of Tennessee's baseball program.

With this new challenge, Vitello has some solid, wise coaches to help guide his steps. Oracle Park is going to be hopping with excitement. Giants fans want to see player like Harrison Bader, Rafael Devers, and others come through in a big, big way.

The Giants' organization, as a whole, probably is tired of playing second fiddle in the National League West Division. But it's a competitive division, filled with teams looking to knock off the Los Angeles Dodgers from their perch.

As Spring Training moves into its final days, the Giants have to get ready for Opening Day. It's do-or-die time for some players. Pay attention to what happens not only on the field but off of it as well.
