A decision on whether or not San Francisco Giants keep Bryce Eldridge up with big-league club remains to be made.

Alright, San Francisco Giants fans. The big question a lot of them have on their minds these days is what is going to happen with phenom first baseman Bryce Eldridge.

Will he stay up on the big-league level? Or, will Eldridge start out playing for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats in the Pacific Coast League?

Any final decision on Eldridge's status has yet to be made.

Giants manager Tony Vitello is taking his time when it comes to Eldridge. Of course, the same thing could be said about every roster decision Vitello is considering at this time.

On Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic published a lengthy article looking at how the Giants' 40-man roster might look at this time.

When Baggarly asked Vitello about Eldridge, the rookie manager wouldn't commit to one simple answer right now.

“There’s been a ton of conversations and … all those conversations, honestly, have been about development, as opposed to where does he hit in the lineup,” Vitello said.

“I think it’s a little more clear where he fits in defensively," Vitello said. "He’s shown that he’s capable at first base, but it’s all just been about how to get the most out of him and how to work with him daily.”

Baggarly then asked Vitello about the development aspect of any decisions, especially ones around Eldridge.

“It’s a good question,” said Vitello, adding that he’ll have to check his emotions while contributing to what will be a group decision. “Maybe go with where you see it going the last couple weeks of spring training. But either way, I know he’s going to help our team at some point.”

As Baggarly also points out in his article, Eldridge a pure phenom who has the ability to be the best Giants' hitter in a long, long time. He's hitting 6-for-25 with one home run, five RBIs, six runs scored, and one home run in Cactus League play, according to his MLB.com statistics.

Eldridge, though, remains young, in terms of being an MLB player. There are factors that Vitello and Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey will consider when looking at the overall makeup of the Giants' 40-man roster.

What does the roster look like for the Giants at this time, according to Baggarly? We'll cover that in a later story here at Giants Roundtable.

For now, though, all eyes are on Eldridge and seeing if he's going to get playing time or bench time for the Giants right out of the gate.
