While it's nice to see San Francisco in mix for free-agent outfielder, his asking price just might be too steep.

The Chicago Cubs are watching free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker walk this offseason and look for anyone who can pay him a king's ransom. Tucker has been connected to a few MLB teams as the free-agent market heats up.

Would you believe that the San Francisco Giants have been connected to Tucker?

According to an article from MLB.com, the Giants are mentioned. But look at Tucker's asking price for his next stop

"Tucker, who turns 29 on Jan. 17, is believed to be seeking a long-term deal worth at least $300 million – possibly as much as $400 million – as he takes his first swing at free agency," according to the MLB.com article.

"That potential price tag has limited Tucker’s market to a finite number of teams, with the Yankees, Mets, Diamondbacks, Giants and Dodgers joining the Blue Jays as clubs that have been connected to him," the article indiatest.

"Yet while we’ve heard of potential interest from those teams, there hasn’t been much substantial movement by any of them to actually get a deal done."

While the free agent market has seen some movement, it's been pretty quiet when it comes to big-name signings.

Guess who is still out on the market right now? Players like Cody Bellinger, Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette, Ranger Suárez, Framber Valdez, and Zac Gallen are still available.

Last season for the Cubs, Tucker hit .266 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs. Tucker also had an OPS of .841, too. Tucker won one World Series championship while playing for the Houston Astros. So, Tucker has postseason experience, something that any team wants to have in their lineup.

Tucker also has 147 career home runs to his name. Imagine that type of power in the Giants' lineup alongside Rafael Devers.

For all practical purposes, the Giants might have been part of the chatter around Tucker. But the team probably doesn't have money to burn when it comes to Tucker.

Still, it's a nice thought to have Tucker roam Oracle Park and make highlight-reel catches in the outfield.

Reality, though, might have Tucker land with another ballclub. It'd take a big cash splash from Giants ownership to land Tucker.

In the MLB world, anything can happen.
