A new trade proposal for the Cleveland Guardians sends star Steven Kwan to a team in the NL Central.

The Cleveland Guardians are currently battling to advance in the American League Division Series against the rival Chicago White Sox.

Game 1 of the series didn't go the way for the Guardians, with the White Sox taking full advantage of Cleveland's long rest. The Guardians had a few days off in between the regular season ending and the playoffs starting after clinching a bye.

Cleveland will be looking to tie up the series in Game 2 before the series shifts over to Chicago for the next few games. But while the players are focused on the postseason series, the front office also has its mind on the upcoming offseason.

Even with the impending lockout coming to MLB in all likelihood, the Guardians have some big decisions to make with the roster. One of them is centered around star outfielder Steven Kwan, who has been put into trade rumors over the last few years.

Kwan had another solid season for Cleveland, hitting .282 with three home runs and 32 RBIs, while posting an OPS of .731. The outfielder has been a target of many teams over the years, and the Guardians could look to move him this winter.

In a new trade proposal from Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, Cleveland does exactly that, sending Kwan to the Chicago Cubs. Here is how the trade would look, according to Miller:

Cleveland Guardians receive: RHP Jaxon Wiggins and UTIL James Triantos

Chicago Cubs receive: Steven Kwan

Should Guardians Do This Trade?

Losing Kwan will hurt the Guardians, so if they do trade him, the front office has to make sure to get back decent value. And this deal may not be the best for Cleveland.

Wiggins didn't fare too strongly in Triple-A this season, with the right-hander posting a 6.75 ERA over 22 appearances (11 starts). Command was a real problem for Wiggins, with the right-hander walking 20 precent of batters this year.

Cleveland has done well with fixing players stuff on the mound, but in a trade for Kwan, they may want a more proven prospect. Wiggins did appear as a top-100 prospect entering the season, however.

As for Triantos, he hit .300 with nine home runs and 58 RBIs, while posting an OPS of .787 in Triple-A. Triantos did see the big leagues this year, hitting .125 with one walk and one hit in eight at-bats.

Overall, this deal could be okay for the Guardians, but they are likely to get more for the All-Star outfielder. Cleveland may need at least one more prospect from the Cubs to make this trade worthwhile.
