Jo Adell remains a perfect addition for the Cleveland Guardians.
The Cleveland Guardians' acquisition of Jo Adell was a perfect move on paper. The team desperately needed another power threat in their lineup and someone who had a long track record against left-handed pitching.
From strictly a baseball perspective, Adell looked like an ideal fit for the Guardians, and through the first month of his Cleveland tenure, the 27-year-old has been just that.
Even after a brutal start to the month, the Guardians are in the thick of the American League Wild Card race, and that has a lot to do with Adell’s production at the plate.
Adell has done nothing but get on base and come through with clutch hits since joining the Guardians. The right-handed hitter has four home runs, 18 RBI, and a .777 OPS in his first 74 Cleveland at-bats.
On top of that, Adell also mashed left-handed pitchers, just like the Guardians hoped he would. The righty has posted a .368/.455/.789 slash line against southpaws in a Guardians uniform, and his 1.244 OPS over this stretch leads the team.
The Adell experiment is going just as planned in Cleveland.

He’s quickly acclimated himself to this tight-knit group, and it truly feels like he’s been on the roster all season, instead of just over a month.
“He was excited to get here, and the way that these guys embraced him when he came in, I mean, it felt like had been here for a month the first week,” said Vogt.
“He's fit our team really well. It was a much-needed piece of a right-handed power-hitting veteran, and he's just been so excited to be here in Cleveland and playing winning baseball.
It’s always a mystery how a new player will fit, both stylistically and in the locker room, with a new team. Sometimes it goes better than planned; other times that player doesn’t mesh as intended.
In the case of Adell and the Guardians, this partnership and fit have been better than anyone could have imagined.

It's still early, yes, but with Adell being such a great fit so far, there could very well be a longterm fit with the organization for years to come.
