Cleveland Guardians skipper Stephen Vogt shares the latest injury updates on Jose Ramirez, Chase DeLauter, and Angel Martinez.
Saturday afternoon was a doomsday scenario for the Cleveland Guardians.
The star rookie Chase DeLauter exited the game with a rib injury after managing to stay healthy all year, despite a lengthy injury history. Then, Angel Martinez exited after fouling a fastball off his foot. Finally, and the most costly, Cleveland’s star Jose Ramirez exited the game, and it was later confirmed that he fractured
Manager Stephen Vogt said immediately after the game that the team was still trying to determine the next steps and the severity of each injury, and that he had little more information to share about each player on Sunday morning.

The Guardians placed Jose Ramirez on the 10-day injured list on Sunday morning; this came as no surprise.
The big question following the imaging was whether or not Ramirez needed to undergo surgery to repair the hamate fracture. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is yes.
Vogt said that the team is still awaiting a date for the procedure, but it’s coming. As for a timeline, Vogt said there isn’t one set for Ramirez yet, but this type of injury typically takes five to seven weeks to heal.

The Guardians will always be cautious with Chase DeLauter, as they should be, given his lengthy injury history.
The rookie isn’t in Sunday’s lineup, but he has officially been placed on the injured list as well.
“He got the MRI and then got a CT scan late last night. So our medical staff is still working through the information on that. We don't quite have all the results back or a specific on what's going on,” Vogt said.
In terms of what the exact injury is, Cleveland’s skipper said, “We’re trying to rule everything out right now.”
It works out well for both DeLauter and the Guardians that they have an off day on Monday to determine what his next steps might be, and that’s really where Vogt left it at.
“We'll know more in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez’s update is definitely the most encouraging of the trio.
Vogt said his injury is simply considered a foot contusion, and he is considered day-to-day. Depending on how Sunday goes, there’s even a chance he could be available off the bench.
Even if that doesn’t happen, Vogt believes Martinez should be ready to go for Sunday after the off day on Monday.
