The Seattle Mariners catcher avoided making unfortunate franchise history against the Astros, putting up two hits in a 10-2 win.

The Seattle Mariners took care of business in a 10-2 win against the Houston Astros on Tuesday at Daikin Park in Houston.

The win improved the Mariners' record to 21-22 on the season, and gave them nine consecutive wins over the Astros dating back to last season.

In addition to Seattle extending its recent dominance over Houston, one of the M's most valuable players snapped out of a cold streak and avoided occupying an unfortunate spot in team history as a result.

Mariners starting catcher, and defending American League MVP finalist Cal Raleigh, entered Tuesday's game against the Astros on an 0-for-36 stretch at the plate.

Raleigh went 0-for-2 in his first two at-bats on Tuesday, increasing his hitless streak to 0-for-38.

The 2025 All-Star broke that dry spell with a single in the top of the seventh inning. Raleigh had another single in the top of the ninth and finished the game having gone 2-for-4 with a walk. He scored three runs.

Raleigh's hitless streak ended with the 0-for-38 mark, which was just four at-bats away from matching the worst such stretch in franchise history. The current worst hitless streak in team history is an 0-for-42 mark belonging to Jarred Kelenic in 2021.

According to Seattle starting pitcher Bryan Woo, who posted a quality start in Tuesday's win, Raleigh took a shower in full uniform at the behest of fellow starting pitcher Logan Gilbert at the conclusion of Monday's game Houston.

Raleigh's teammates celebrated the conclusion of his dry spell and collectively cheered in the dugout following the seventh-inning single. They also made sure Raleigh got the ball he hit to break the cold stretch.

Now that Raleigh has his dry spell behind him, he can work on getting back to his usual form. And he'll have a chance to do that and help secure a series win for the Mariners in the process in game three of the four-game set against the Astros at 5:10 p.m. PT on Wednesday.

In addition to Raleigh's normal offensive duties behind the plate, he'll likely be behind the plate for the first game back for starting pitcher Bryce Miller.

Miller has missed the entire season due to a left oblique strain he suffered in spring training and will be making his season debut Wednesday.
