PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning on Tuesday night, at the time pulling the Mariners within 2-1 of the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

For Raleigh, it was his eighth home run of the season and his first since coming off the injured list last week.

It came on a two-strike slider from Pirates starter Mitch Keller. It also made some history. Per Mariners PR, Raleigh now has 161 career home runs. The puts him past Alvin Davis for seventh all-time in team history. He needs just three home runs to pass Nelson Cruz for sixth all-time. 

An All-Star last season, Raleigh hit 60 home runs in a magical 2025 campaign. He set the record for most home runs in a season by a catcher, a switch-hitter and a Mariners player. He finished second in the American League MVP voting behind only Aaron Judge.

It's been a different story this season, as Raleigh missed a month with an injured oblique. He's struggled even when he has played, and he entered play Tuesday with a .162 batting average.

The Mariners entered play at 40-39 and in first place in the American League West, though they only led the division by 1.5 games over the Athletics and Rangers.

--Cole Young, a native of the Pittsburgh suburbs, spoke pregame about coming back to play in his hometown. He said he came to Pirates games as a kid and was in the crowd for the 2013 wild card game against the Cincinnati Reds. He cited Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker as his favorite players growing up.

--Arozarena is in the lineup on Tuesday as part of his comeback from injury.
