SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners got through a variety of injuries to earn a 3-1 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners' win was bolstered in large part by starting pitcher Logan Gilbert's second-straight quality start.

Gilbert struck out 10 batters, walked one, hit a batter and allowed one earned run on two hits in seven innings pitched Tuesday.

Entering Tuesday, Seattle's starting rotation was second in the major leagues in strikeouts with 400. The team with the most entering the day was the two-time defending World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, with 402.

The Dodgers' starter in their 1-0 win against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday was Justin Wrobleski, who fanned five batters in six innings of work, bringing the defending champs' total to 407 on the season. Gilbert's 10 strikeouts gave the Mariners 410 on the season and the top spot in the major leagues entering Wednesday.

Gilbert has a 3.43 ERA this season and has 92 fanned batters in 86.2 innings pitched across 15 starts.

Seattle has six starters on the rotation, including Gilbert, that have helped bolster the team's overall numbers.

George Kirby has posted a 4.07 ERA this year and has struck out 74 hitters in 84 innings of work across 14 starters. He'll start in game two of the three-game series against Baltimore at 6:40 p.m. PT on Wednesday.

Emerson Hancock is in the midst of a career-best season and has a 3.28 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 79.2 innings pitched across 14 starts.

Bryan Woo has posted a 4.28 ERA and has fanned 79 hitters in 82 innings pitched across 14 outings. He'll close out the series against the Orioles at 1:10 p.m. PT on Thursday.

Luis Castillo has a 5.00 ERA and has struck out 65 hitters in 66.2 innings pitched across 14 outings (12 starts).

Bryce Miller has posted a 1.54 ERA and has fanned 36 batters in 35 innings of work across six outings (five starts). He missed the first month-and-a-half of the season with a left oblique strain and was activated off the injured list May 13.

In addition to their high strikeout numbers, the Mariners crop of starters can also play a role in keeping the team's bullpen fresh going forward.

Seattle will be going with a piggyback approach from now through the All-Star Break, with one hurler starting and the other pitching in long relief every fifth day/game in the order.

Miller and Castillo, who have piggybacked off one another at various points since Miller's return, will be tasked with the first piggyback day in the current iteration of the rotation's set-up. Miller will start and Castillo will pitch in long relief in the series opener against the Boston Red Sox at 7:10 p.m. PT on Friday.
