With their combination of speed and power, the Mariners offense was more diversified than it had been in years.

Mariners Roundtable publisher Brady Farkas talks about the M's power and speed in 2025.

The Seattle Mariners joined exceedingly rare baseball history during a magical 2025 season that saw them advance to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, where they were beaten in heartbreaking fashion by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Mariners did a little bit of everything during the campaign, as they got superb starting pitching from the likes of Bryan Woo and elite back-end bullpen play from Andres Munoz. They also saw historic levels of power and speed from a number of different sources.

As noted by Mariners PR:

The @Mariners hit 238 home runs and recorded 161 stolen bases this season, becoming the second team in @MLB history with 230+ HR and 160+ SB.

On the power front

The Mariners had eight different players hit double-digit home runs this season, with Silver Slugger winner Cal Raleigh leading the way with 60. His 60 blasts were the most-ever for a Mariners player, the most ever for a catcher and the most ever for a switch-hitter. He led baseball in the category and is engaged in a battle for the American League MVP Award with Aaron Judge.

Furthermore, Julio Rodriguez swatted 32 home runs, continuing to excel in the second halves of seasons, and he was followed by Randy Arozarena (27) and Jorge Polanco (26). Eugenio Suarez hit 13 after being acquired in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks while J.P. Crawford added 12 and Dominic Canzone had 11. Rowdy Tellez also had 11 before being DFA'd and joining the Texas Rangers.

In total, 20 different players homered for the M's this season.

On the speed front

The Mariners ran a ton this season, especially early on in the campaign before acquiring Suarez and Josh Naylor, though Naylor stole 19 bases himself in just 54 games. Beyond that, Arozarena had 31 steals while Rodriguez added 30. Dylan Moore had 12 before being let go, giving Seattle five different players with double-digit pilfers. Nineteen players stole at least one base for Seattle, giving them a more diverse offense than years past.

Can they replicate it?

It depends on how the offseason goes. Suarez, Naylor and Polanco are all free agents, and if the Mariners lose all three, they'd be missing out on at least 48 homers from a season ago. It's also unlikely that Raleigh repeats his home run performance, so there are real questions for the front office to answer over the next few months.

They've said that Naylor is priority No. 1 this offseason, but there are other options on the market that could potentially help fill the power avoid, including Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami and infielders Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette. As for the speed? They'll need to hope that guys like Cole Young and Ryan Bliss can add to their totals, while hopefully getting a healthy season from Victor Robles.
