The April version of the Baseball America prospect rankings were released on Friday morning and there were significant developments for the Seattle Mariners, on two different fronts.

First off: The M's saw infield prospect Michael Arroyo enter the Top 100 again after he had fallen out of the Top 100 in the January pre-spring training rankings. Second off, the M's saw right-hander Ryan Sloan pass Kade Anderson on the Top 100 list.

Arroyo is now listed at No. 100. Sloan is at No. 22 while Anderson is at No. 23. Sloan was originally at No. 60 but shot up after a fantastic spring training and the hype associated with it. Anderson was originally at No. 25.

Arroyo is regarded as an excellent offensive player. Last season, he hit .262 with 17 home runs and 12 stolen bases between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas. He's generally not regarded as a strong infield defender, and we heard this spring that the M's were going to work him out in some different positions, including third base and left field.

The 21-year-old is beginning the year at Double-A Arkansas, but he could certainly play a role in Seattle by the end of the season. He hit .308 for Team Colombia at the World Baseball Classic.

About Anderson

Anderson threw 119 innings at LSU last season, striking out 180 batters. He helped the Tigers win the national championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series and then was drafted No. 3 overall by the Mariners. He features a low-to-mid-90s fastball and multiple developed offspeed pitches.

He went 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA in three Cactus League appearances - the first three professional appearances of his career.

He'll begin the season at Double-A Arkansas as well and will pitch on Friday night against Midland.

About Sloan

The 20-year-old appeared in 21 games in 2025, 18 of which came at Single-A Modesto and three of which were at High-A Everett. He went 2-4 overall with a 3.73 ERA, striking out 90 batters in 82.0 innings. Opponents hit .256 off him at hitter-friendly leagues.

A second-round pick in 2024 out of the Illinois high school ranks, he's also going to start the year at Double-A.

Both he and Anderson are on the doorsteps of the big leagues and both could be contributors at some point this season, especially if the M's suffer injuries in the starting rotation later in the campaign.
