The Mariners placed Brendan Donovan on the 10-day injured list and selected the contract of corner infielder Will Wilson ahead of a series against the Athletics

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners made a series of roster moves ahead of the first of a three-game series against the Athletics on Monday.

Several hours before the game one against their American League West rivals at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, the Mariners placed third baseman Brendan Donovan on the 10-day injured list due to a left groin muscle strain (retroactive to April 18), moved utility player Miles Mastrobuoni from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL (right calf strain) and selected the contract of corner infielder Will Wilson from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.

Donovan's placement on the IL is the most noteworthy transaction among the set of roster moves.

Donovan exited Seattle's game against the Texas Rangers on Friday (April 18) due to what was described then as hip tightness.

The 2025 All-Star was pulled from a game against the Los Angeles Angels on April 4 due to a groin injury — the same ailment he was placed on the IL with. Seattle manager Dan Wilson has said Donovan's recent hip issue and his prior groin ailment against Los Angeles were unrelated.

Donovan is in his first year with the Mariners after being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-team trade including the Tampa Bay Rays this past offseason. Since the season began, the multifaceted utility player has been one of the most consistent bats in the M's' lineup.

Donovan has slashed .304/.437/.518 with a .955 OPS across 18 games this season. He's hit three doubles and three home runs with eight RBIs.

Mastrobuoni has been out since spring training due to a calf strain he suffered while competing for Italy in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The utility player, who entered his second season with Seattle this year, began a rehab assignment with the Rainiers on April 8.

Mastrobuoni has struggled since joining the Triple-A club. He's slashed .133/.278/.333 with a .611 OPS across six games with Tacoma. He's hit a double and a triple in 18 at-bats entering Monday.

Mastrobuoni finished 2025 with a slash line of .250/.324/.296 with a .620 OPS and hit four doubles and a homer with 12 RBIs across 76 games in the majors.

Wilson, who was originally picked in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Angels, signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on Jan. 26. He has 34 major league games under his belt, which all came in '25 with the Cleveland Guardians.

In 14 games with the Rainiers this season, Wilson has slashed .275/.383/.400 with a .783 OPS and has hit two doubles and a homer with four RBIs.
