According to Seattle Times' Mariners reporter Adam Jude, the Seattle Mariners are going to unveil a brand new Ichiro Suzuki statue outside T-Mobile Park on April 10.

Ichiro had his No. 51 retired by the organization in a ceremony last August and joins Ken Griffey Jr. and Edgar Martinez as the only players to have their numbers retired by the organization. They both have statues out front of T-Mobile Park as well.

There is also a new Ichiro-related monument at the team's spring training complex in Peoria, Ariz. Ichiro was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame last July, making him the third member of the M's to be enshrined in Cooperstown.

About Ichiro

One of the most dynamic players in baseball history, Ichiro spent 19 years with the Mariners, Miami Marlins and New York Yankees. A career .311 hitter, Ichiro amassed 3,089 hits, which came on top of the more than 1,000 he got as a professional in Japan.

He was a 10-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glover, a Rookie of the Year winner, a three-time Silver Slugger and a two-time batting champion. He also won the MVP Award in 2001 as the M's won 116 games.

With the Mariners, he hit .321 over parts of 14 seasons. He had 99 career home runs in a Seattle uniform. He led the league in hits seven times and stolen bases once (56 in 2001).

--The M's could need to change their 2026 schedule because of the opening of the Seattle Seahawks season. File it away under 'good problems to have,' but it's certainly something to pay attention to in mid-September. The Seahawks could open the season on September 9th or 10th, with the M's playing home games on each of those dates.

--Mariners fans got their first look at new reliever Jose Ferrer on Thursday. He tossed his first bullpen since being acquired in an offseason trade with the Washington Nationals. He's expected to be a major part of Dan Wilson's bullpen.
