Davis, formerly one of the top outfield prospects in the game, will be joining the Mariners organization.

The Seattle Mariners have reportedly inked a player that used to be regarded as one of the best outfield prospects in the game.

According to a report on "X" from Just Baseball's Aram Leighton, the Mariners signed Brennen Davis to a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to spring training.

Davis was originally selected in the second round (62nd overall) in the 2018 MLB Draft out of high school by the Chicago Cubs.

Davis was on MLB Pipeline's top 100 lists from 2020-23 and was ranked as high as the 15th-best prospect in baseball in 2022. He ended '23 ranked 92nd in the majors.

Davis has been plagued with injuries throughout his time as a professional. The most he's played in a single season was 99 games in 2021.

    Since then, Davis has played 53 games in '22, 71 in '23, 55 in '24 and 50 in '25.

Davis' tenure with the Cubs in '24 after the organization designated him for assignment Nov. 19, 2024. He elected free agent Nov. 22, 2024.

Davis signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees on Dec. 23, 2024.

This past year, across stints in the Florida Complex League, Double-A and Triple-A, Davis scored 30 runs in 50 games and hit seven doubles and 17 home runs with 39 RBIs and slashed .271/.364/.612 with a .976 OPS. He was on the injured list from June 30-Aug. 20 with an unspecified injury after colliding with an outfield wall.

Seattle has tow top 100 outfield prospects in Lazaro Montes and Michael Arroyo. The latter of the two will play left field this winter and, presumably, during the 2026 minor league season after spending most of his professional career with the Mariners at second base.

Both Arroyo and Montes are projected to make their major league debuts in 2026. If Arroyo's transition to left field goes well and both players perform well once they make their projected major league debuts, Montes and Arroyo will likely take over the major league club's respective corner outfield spots.

Davis will likely see extended playing time in the Cactus League in spring training due to several players, including center fielder Julio Rodriguez, left fielder Randy Arozarena, right fielder Dominic Canzone and Michael Arroyo, either confirmed or rumored to be competing in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

If Davis impresses in Arizona, it could add a wrinkle into the team's future outfield plans, which are currently set up for Arroyo and Montes to play on either side of Rodriguez beginning in 2027.
