The Texas Rangers will turn their attention to the Arizona Diamondbacks, beginning with a series-opening tilt on Monday night in Arlington.
The Texas Rangers arguably won their biggest series of the year at Globe Life Field over the weekend.
Following a 7-1 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Cubs in Friday night’s series opener, things looked bleak as Texas fell to a season-low four games below .500 and was staring down the hottest team in baseball for two more games.
However, things did not stay bleak for long as, from that point on, the Rangers didn’t allow a run and took the series from the red-hot Cubs.
Now, the Rangers will turn their attention to the Arizona Diamondbacks, beginning with a series-opening tilt on Monday night in Arlington. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CST.
Fans can catch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.
The first 10,000 fans who make their way into Globe Life Field will receive a Rangers Captain Bobblehead.
Not only will it be a giveaway night, but Rangers fans will have the chance to see Nathan Eovaldi take the mound.
Eovaldi will get the start for the Rangers, entering play with a 4-4 record and a 4.15 ERA on the season.
Despite the slow start, Rangers fans know well that Eovaldi has good memories facing the D-backs, and they hope those will continue on Monday night.
In his last start against the New York Yankees, Eovaldi was brilliant, going eight innings and allowing just one run.
After getting seven shutout innings from Jacob deGrom on Sunday afternoon, the Rangers will hope that Eovaldi will follow that tough act and continue turning his season around.
Offensively, the Rangers will face veteran right-hander and Canadian native Michael Soroka. Entering play on Monday, Soroka is 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA.
Regardless of who is on the mound for the D-backs, the Rangers have now stacked a couple of solid offensive games in a row.
As they enter a stretch in which they take on several teams in a row who are off to slow starts, the Rangers will look for this to be the time for their offense and their team to trend upward.
The beginning of this series against Arizona marks an opportunity for the Rangers to stack some success before entering the summer grind of the baseball season. A series win against the D-backs would no doubt mark a very successful homestand.
