The Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field as they look to clinch a series win against the Boston Red Sox
After opening their homestand with a huge 4-2 victory on Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers are back in action on Wednesday as they look for a series-clinching victory against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with parking lots slated to open at 4:30 p.m., followed by ballpark gates at 5 p.m. You’ll want to head into the stadium early, as the first 10,000 fans receive a Nathan Eovaldi Flying Ace bobblehead.
It’ll be the first of two straight bobblehead giveaways, as during Thursday night’s series finale against Boston, the first 10,000 will receive the Nolan Ryan Bloody Lip Bobblehead.
Once the action on the field gets underway on Wednesday, MacKenzie Gore will take the mound for Texas to make his 32nd start of the season.
Gore comes into play with an 8-11 record, a 4.62 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 172 strikeouts in 161.2 innings.
Wednesday will be the second straight day the Rangers have a pitcher throwing on just four days' rest after Jacob deGrom delivered a solid performance of five innings with just two earned runs on Tuesday with short rest.
Just four days ago in his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Gore struggled, allowing four earned runs in four innings of work.
When the Rangers visited the Red Sox earlier this season, Gore did not pitch, so this will mark his first time seeing Boston in a Texas uniform.
During both of their times in the National League, Gore has faced Red Sox first baseman Wilson Contreras 16 times, and the numbers have been severely in the Venezuelan’s favor as he comes into play with a .563 average and a 1.549 OPS in his career against the Rangers left-hander.
On the other side of the ball, much to the pleasure of Texas hitters, they will face another left-handed pitcher as Jake Bennett toes the rubber for Boston.
Bennett comes into play with a 9-7 record, a 3.69 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 105 innings. This will mark the first time that Bennett has faced the Rangers in his career.
With a win, the Rangers would run their winning streak up to four games and would pull back to .500 at 76-76.
Texas comes into play one game back of first place in the American League West and 1.5 games back of the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
