The Texas Rangers went hitless with runners in scoring position as Seattle Mariners' Kade Anderson outdueled Cody Bradford.
The Texas Rangers' offense failed to deliver in crucial moments as they dropped game two of three to the Seattle Mariners, 3-2.
This team was 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven stranded in a game that saw them out-hit the Mariners, but still end up losing by a run.
Cody Bradford is now 0-5, a number that is eerily similar to how the Rangers offense performed in this one when the lights shined the brightest.
Once again, the Rangers had a chance to get back to .500, but they let it slip through their fingers.
Texas jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, only for the Mariners to immediately answer in the bottom half.
A two-run fourth inning put the Mariners ahead 3-1, a score that stayed intact until the eighth inning when Corey Seager hit a 355-foot homer to left field.
Ultimately, it wasn't enough as the Rangers' mini winning streak came to an end against a team that is now just 68-78.
Kade Anderson outdueled Bradford
Most would argue it took the Mariners far too long to call up their 22-year-old pitching prospect, but patience is a virtue, and that was proven in a start like this.
The Louisiana native was coming off his first career loss, but now he was able to record his first career win at the expense of the Rangers.
Anderson allowed just one earned run on six hits in six innings. The only run he allowed was a solo shot to Jake Burger in the second inning.
Burger hit his 26th homer of the year while Seager hit his 17th, but a pair of solo shots wasn't going to be enough to overcome this Mariners pitching staff.
On the other hand, Bradford exited after he allowed a trio of earned runs on four hits in four innings.
The Rangers pitching staff ended this game striking out only four Mariners batters, and two of their three walks came from Bradford.
Bradford allowed all three of the Mariners' runs, and he was responsible for four of their six hits.
In the end, this loss can't completely be put on his shoulders, as it was a rough night for the offense.
This team didn't have a single extra-base hit, other than the homers, and they were only able to draw three walks at the plate while striking out nine times.
