Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom had his opening start this season delayed a bit, but he was on his game against Baltimore Orioles.

When Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom prepared for Tuesday night's start against the Baltimore Orioles, he probably wanted to get off to a good beginning.

Well, deGrom sure did as the Rangers, thanks to home runs from Danny Jansen and Corey Seager, secured an 8-5 victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

For that first start, deGrom went 4 2/3 innings. He ended up striking out seven and didn't walk a batter at all. After the Orioles' Gunnar Henderson smoked a two-run double in the fifth inning, deGrom's night was through. At that point, Henderson's hit tied the game at 3-3.

But Jansen came through with his home run in the seventh inning, then Seager smacked a solo home run in the ninth.

That put the Rangers comfortably up gave them their fourth win in the 2026 MLB season. The Rangers are 4-1 overall and will go up against Baltimore in a Wednesday afternoon contest.

Ezequiel Duran hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning, his first homer this season, and gave Texas a 1-0 lead.

Then, in the bottom of the fourth inning, Baltimore's Pete Alonso hit his first home run this season, a blast to center field. That tied things up at 1-1.

The Rangers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth. Wyatt Langford connected for his first triple this season, bringing home Brandon Nimmo.

Seager had an RBI single to center, scoring Langford and putting Texas up 3-1 at that point.

Then, in the bottom of the fifth, Henderson's first double this season brought home Blaze Alexander and Taylor Ward. The Orioles and Rangers were tied at 3-3.

Nimmo came through in the top of the sixth with an RBI single to center, scoring Evan Carter and putting the Rangers up 4-3.

Jansen's seventh-inning, three-run blast also brought home Seager and Jake Burger, giving Texas a 7-3 advantage. That was Jansen's first homer this season. Seager's ninth-inning dinger put the Rangers up 8-3.

Baltimore put up two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough on Tuesday night.

This is deGrom's fourth season with Texas. He missed a chunk of 2023 and 2024 as he was recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. Last season, though, deGrom was an All-Star, according to Rangers beat reporter Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.

He put up a 2.97 ERA in 172 2/3 innings of work.

The Rangers and Orioles will play the final game of this three-game series starting at 12:35 p.m. ET (11:35 a.m. CT).
