Despite home runs from Jake Burger, Mark Canha, the Texas Rangers lost to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.

Jake Burger provided the Texas Rangers with some long-ball support on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to help the Rangers avoid a loss in Cactus League play.

The Rangers were beaten by the San Francisco Giants 7-5 as the Rangers hit the road for a Spring Training contest. The Giants had a split squad going up against Texas, and it proved to be enough for this game.

On the day, Burger went 1-for-2 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBIs. The Giants were paced by Jerar Encarnacion, who went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs. Carson Whisenhunt threw three innings of one-hit ball for San Francisco, too.

But let's look at how the game played out for the Rangers.

In the bottom of the second inning, Encarnacion singled to center, scoring Casey Schmitt for a 1-0 San Francisco lead. Grant McCray moved to second on the hit.

Then, in the bottom of the fourth inning, Encarnacion singled to right, scoring Bryce Eldridge and putting the Giants up 2-0 at that point. Luis Matos moved into third base on the hit. But the Giants were done scoring. Willy Adames singled to right, scoring Matos and Encarnacion and bumping the San Francisco lead up to 4-0.

With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Burger hit his third home run in Cactus League play over the center-field wall. Cameron Cauley scored ahead of Burger as the Rangers cut into the Giants' lead at 4-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Rangers managed to take a 5-4 lead as Mark Canha hit his first home run in Spring Training play. Canha's homer went over the left-field wall and brought home Keith Jones II and Orlando Martinez.

Then, the Giants rallied back in the bottom of the eighth inning. Osleivis Basabe smoked his third double in Cactus League play, bringing home Eric Haase and Trevor Cohen to put San Francisco up 6-5. With two outs, Buddy Kennedy singled to right field, and Basabe scored.

The Rangers weren't able to put up a comeback in the top of the ninth.

Will Bednar picked up the win for San Francisco while R.J. Dabovich earned his first save of the spring. Rangers pitcher Jonathan Brand picked up the loss on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Rangers get right back to Cactus League play as they will face the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch in this clash of American League West Division foes is at 4:05 p.m. ET.
