What type of lineup will manager Skip Schumaker put on the field for the Texas Rangers? It's worth thinking about.

For Texas Rangers fans, they can write down Friday, Feb. 20, as the first Spring Training game for the ballclub against the Kansas City Royals. This will be the first time for Rangers fans to see manager Skip Schumaker put a lineup on the field.

It's going to be important for Schumaker, who spent last season as a senior adviser to Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young, to put his stamp on the team.

There really cannot be any blips on the big screen this season. Schumaker needs to have all of the Rangers' players on the same page. No more dilly-dallying around before the game with players only singularly focused on themselves.

That was part of a postseason scuttlebutt from a Rangers player about the 2025 season. Schumaker comes into a role that Bruce Bochy held down before the ballclub didn't bring him back this season.

Now, with all of that out of the way, what might Schumaker put together for a Spring Training lineup, with a nod toward the regular season, too?

In a recent article, MLB.com put out projected starting lineups for all 30 MLB clubs. Yes, the Rangers were included in it, too.

The article put right fielder Brandon Nimmo, who came over from the New York Mets, in the leadoff spot. Left fielder Wyatt Langford and shortstop Corey Seager were in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, followed by first baseman Jake Burger in the cleanup spot.

Designated hitter Joc Pederson and third baseman Josh Jung were next, followed by second baseman Josh Smith. Now, when it came to the catcher's spot, the MLB.com article indicated that either Danny Jansen or Kyle Higashioka could end up there.

Center fielder Evan Carter would round out the Rangers' lineup in the No. 9 hole.

This season is really important for Texas. The organization needs to step forward and get back into the American League West Division discussion. Toss in some postseason play considerations, too.

Outside of winning the World Series in 2023, the past few seasons overall have not been truly solid. The franchise needs to string together some consistent winning seasons. One thing that Young and Schumaker must impress upon all players is the importance of having a winning record in 2026.

Bochy is gone now. The mindset and thought process for all Rangers players will now be set up by Schumaker.

Putting a solid lineup on the field night-in and night-out will prove to be a major factor in just how the Rangers play throughout this season.
