While Rangers added a couple of new players, they really didn't add much impact to the lineup at this point.

While the Texas Rangers really want to be back in contention for the American League West Division title in the upcoming 2026 MLB season, did they do enough to make this a reality?

The Rangers went all-in to replace Bruce Bochy in the dugout, moving Skip Schumaker from the boxes to the dugout as the team's new manager. Schumaker comes into this season, of course, after spending time as senior adviser to Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young.

In the offseason, the club added Brandon Nimmo and Danny Jansen to help shore up some spots. Yet, there are still holes in the Rangers' lineup. What, though, will this do for the Rangers this season? Where are the Rangers actually ranked among other MLB teams in offseason work?

Chad Jennings of The Athletic took a look at all MLB teams and ranked them in different offseason tiers. The Rangers fell into the tier that Jennings titled, "Doing what, exactly?"

In this category, the Rangers were included along with the San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and San Diego Padres.

"Maybe the pieces fit a little better — Nimmo and catcher Danny Jansen in place of Semien and García — but it feels more like shuffling than adding," Jennings wrote. "The Rangers signed some relievers, but their rotation lost Tyler Mahle and Patrick Corbin. Remember, this is the last non-Dodgers team to win a World Series."

Obviously, the Rangers really want to challenge the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros for another division title. As Jennings pointed out, the Rangers are the last team not named the Los Angeles Dodgers to win a World Series championship.

Are the Rangers closer to getting another World Series title in 2026? Or, are they still a few players away from doing so?

Young has been looking to upgrade the Rangers across the board. It looks like the moves that they have made are just tidying up loose ends.

These additions are not real game-changing ones.

But this is the hand that Schumaker, who previously served as a manager with the Miami Marlins, has been dealt.

Pitchers and catchers' first workout is scheduled for Feb. 10. The Rangers' spring training opener is scheduled for Feb. 20 against the Royals. Of course, the Rangers' spring training facility is located in Surprise, Ariz.

Schumaker hopes to be able to take the players that Young has provided him and turn them into a contender. Rangers fans sure hope this happens, too.
