Any talks about contracts are on hold for Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford. For now.

When the Texas Rangers reach Opening Day, outfielder Wyatt Langford will be in the starting lineup. Langford has been a pretty steady player in his time with the Rangers and he looks forward to doing so in 2026.

Yet Langford also will have some decisions to make as far as his contract situation with the ballclub is concerned. That's down the road, though.

Langford talked about it in an interview with Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, according to a story from MLB Trade Rumors.

“Amazing stadium, facilities, people and leadership here," Langford said, talking, in part, about Globe Life Field. "So there’s really a lot to like about it. I definitely would be open to it. There’s no rush to do anything. That’s my … view on it. No matter what, I’m going to be here for four more seasons, unless I get traded or something.”

According to Grant's story, Langford put together a slash line of .241/.344/.431 with 22 home runs and 22 stolen bases. In the big scheme of things, that was a pretty good 2025 season for Langford.

But first-year Rangers manager Skip Schumaker probably wants to see that batting average climb a little bit.

That's probably on Langford's mind, too, as the Rangers get ready for the season at Spring Training. Grant indicated in his article that Langford has been around league minimum salaries in the 2024 and 2025 MLB seasons.

But Langford got an $8 million dollar signing bonus after being the fourth overall pick by the Rangers in the 2023 draft. Additionally, Langford picked up nearly $1 million dollars in the past two seasons, according to Grant, through the pre-arbitration bonus pool.

Grant added that there have not been any conversations between Langford's representatives and the ballclub lately.

One player who might be having a good influence on Langford right now is new teammate Brandon Nimmo. Nimmo came over from the New York Mets in an offseason trade that sent Marcus Semien to the Mets. Nimmo is a veteran presence in the clubhouse, learning some tips of the trade from veteran players with the Mets.

What Nimmo can do for Langford is present him with a perspective of MLB play through the eyes of a guy who has been through it all.

Langford enters this season with the ability to play at a corner outfield position. If needed, though, he could play some center field for Schumaker during the season, too.

Whatever the case, Langford has been a steady player for the Rangers in his tenure there. Don't expect that to change one bit as the ballclub looks to right the ship after a couple of rough seasons record-wise.
