The Surprise Saguaros had their best win of the Arizona Fall League season on Thursday, and the Texas Rangers had a couple of prospects at the forefront of it.

Surprise took down the Desert Dogs 17-8, scoring five runs in the third, four in the fourth, and seven in the fifth.

With the win, the Saguaros improved to a strong 6-3 in the Fall League and have been stacking up some really solid wins. On the flip side, the Desert Dogs are now just 1-9.

Coming into the weekend, Surprise is now in second place in the AFL standings and is just one game back of first.

Another strong day for Kling

As for Thursday night’s game, it was yet another really strong showing for Rangers outfield prospect Paxton Kling.

Kling went 3-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. In the AFL season, the Texas 20th-ranked prospect now has a .500 batting average and an OPS of 1.250.

In his first at-bat, Kling led off the second inning by shooting an opposite-field single into right field. After flying out to right in the third, Kling would come back to the plate in the fifth and rip a base hit up the middle. He would also come back up to the plate and hit an infield single in that same inning.

After a flyout in the eighth, Kling would draw a walk in the ninth to close out a very strong performance.

Rangers prospect Brock back in action

Rangers catching prospect Julian Brock also got the start as he did the work behind the plate and hit seventh in the order.

Just like Kling, Brock also put forth a solid performance, going 0-for-3 but drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.

After a groundout in his first at-bat, Brock drew a free pass in the fourth before coming up again in the fifth and walking again. Like Kling, he also hit twice in the big fifth inning but was forced into a groundout. In his final at-bat of the night, the Rangers catching prospect struck out.

Texas did not have a pitcher appear in the Fall League game for yet another day, but the pitching so far this Fall League has been a success from a Rangers perspective.

Five Texas pitching prospects are a part of the Surprise roster, and each of them has provided significant contributions to the strong start to the season for this Saguaros team.
