The Mesa Solar Sox wrapped up the third week of Arizona Fall League play on Saturday night, capping off a 2-3 week with a 7-3 win over the Peoria Javelinas. After three weeks of action in Arizona, the Solar Sox sit in fifth place among six teams with a 6-9 record.

Here’s what you need to know about how the Boston Red Sox pitching prospects performed in the AFL over the past week.

Harry Blum

A 25-year-old undrafted signee from the 2025 class, Blum has been the Red Sox' most impressive pitcher in Mesa. Blum made his third fall appearance in Mesa’s 9-1 loss on Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three in a scoreless inning of relief.

In four appearances for the Solar Sox, Blum has allowed one earned run on five hits, striking out seven and walking six.

Trennor O’Donnell

After struggling in his second fall appearance, the 25-year-old right-hander looked much better in his third outing, tossing a scoreless inning in Mesa’s 10-0 loss. O’Donnell struck out two, including MLB Pipeline’s No. 27 prospect, Chicago White Sox’ Caleb Bonemer, while walking one in his clean inning of relief.

In three appearances with Mesa, the 2023 eighth-rounder has allowed three earned runs on three hits, good for a 5.40 ERA, while striking out five and walking two.

Nicholas Judice

It’s been an up-and-down fall for the 25-year-old right-hander. After an impressive first outing, Judice struggled in his second appearance. Those struggles continued in his third appearance in Thursday’s blowout loss, when he allowed one earned run on two hits and walked one.

The former New York Yankees farmhand has allowed four earned runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out four in four innings with the Solar Sox.

Madinson Frias

After allowing three earned runs, he took a loss in his last appearance. Frias entered Saturday’s Solar Sox win in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and recording a hold. However, it wasn’t an easy outing for the 21-year-old right-hander as he danced around traffic, walking four batters and allowing two hits; he also struck out three batters.

In three appearances for Mesa, Frias has allowed four earned runs on nine hits in 7.1 innings, striking out seven and walking seven.

Caden Vire

A draftee in the minor league phase of the 2025 Rule 5, Vire did not appear in any games for Mesa over the last week. The 23-year-old left-hander allowed one earned run on one hit, walked three, and struck out one in his first two relief appearances of the fall.

Mesa will be back in action on Monday afternoon taking on the Glendale Desert Dogs.
