As the minor league season draws to a close across all levels, Minor League Baseball has begun handing out end-of-season awards and All-Star selections, beginning with the Single-A All-Stars on Tuesday.

It was a frustrating season for the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Salem RidgeYaks, as they finished the regular season with a 56-75 record, missing the playoffs. Despite the rough season, Salem still hosted a trio of breakout Boston prospects, including pitcher Sadbiel Delzine and a pair of catchers, Franklin Primera and Kleyver Salazar, the latter of whom was named to the Carolina League All-Star team. 

The 20-year-old catcher signed with Boston out of Venezuela for $175,000 as part of the 2023 international free agent class. Salazar made his stateside debut in 2024, playing 49 games with the Florida Complex League Red Sox. He joined Salem in 2025, hitting .215/.327/.276/.603 with four home runs and nine doubles in 99 games. Salazar's struggles at the plate in his first taste of Single-A led the Red Sox to send him back to that level, a move that proved worthwhile as he broke out in a major way in 2026. 

Salazar appeared in 95 games with the RidgeYaks in his second taste of Single-A, hitting .293/.403/.479/.882 with 12 home runs, 25 doubles and 69 RBI. The 20-year-old backstop ranked in the top five among all Carolina League hitters in batting average (3rd), on-base percentage (2nd) and slugging percentage (3rd), while leading all hitters in OPS en route to the All-Star nod. 

Defensively, Salazar has a strong profile that makes him likely to stick behind the plate as he continues to climb the minor league ranks. According to SoxProspects.com, Salazar "moves well behind the plate and does a good job framing," which is paired with a "strong arm that can control the running game." 

After entering the season outside the SoxProspects organizational top 60, Salazar has now joined the rankings, checking in at No. 50. 

Major League Baseball announced the six rosters for the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday, including eight Red Sox prospects who will join prospects from the Angels, Athletics, Blue Jays and Cubs on the Mesa Solar Sox. Among the eight players being sent to the AFL are a pair of 2023 draftees, both of whom signed overslot deals, Antonio Anderson and Nazzan Zannetello. The Arizona Fall League season begins Oct. 3. 

According to Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, former Red Sox top prospect Kristian Campbell will not return from the injured list before the Triple-A season ends on Sunday. Campbell was placed on the injured list on Thursday with a left foot contusion. 

After falling 4-2 in Tuesday night's series opener against the Texas Rangers, the Red Sox will look to even up the series in game two of three from Globe Life Field on Wednesday night. Rookie left-hander Jake Bennett (9-7, 3.69 ERA) will get the start for Boston opposite fellow southpaw MacKenzie Gore (8-11, 4.62 ERA) for Texas. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET.
