From elite international power hitters to a former first-rounder seeking redemption, these three high-upside farmhands are primed to bridge the gap and bolster Cincinnati’s roster by 2027.
With so much uncertainty heading into the offseason, forecasting what next year’s Cincinnati Reds roster could look like is an interesting exercise. We could have a miracle agreement before the season, and the season could start on opening day. We could get a portion of the season, or not play any baseball at all.
But let’s look at the prospects in the Reds farm system who could make their MLB debut in 2027. It’s a combination of former draft picks who need to prove themselves and international signings who have moved up the ranks quickly.
1B/3B Cam Collier
Collier is getting to the point where the Reds have to give him at-bats to decide what to do with him. The former first-round pick out of Chipola Junior College in Florida was drafted at 17 and has been a pretty big disappointment. He is currently 21, however, so he is still relatively young.
He hasn’t hit over .280 in a full season, with his best year being a .279 batting average across three levels in 2025. That culminated in a .209 average with 18 home runs in 2026, when he played the whole season for the Reds' Double-A affiliate, the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Luckily for Collier, the Reds could look for corner-infield or designated-hitting help next season, depending on what they do with Ke’Bryan Hayes, Eugenio Suarez, and JJ Bleday.
C Alfredo Duno
MLB.com lists Duno's ETA to the big leagues as 2028, but Cincinnati could be looking for catching help next year if they don’t re-sign Tyler Stephenson. Jose Trevino was statistically one of the worst hitters in the majors last season, and Duno is known for his power and offensive prowess.
Duno is the Reds' #1 prospect and the #20 prospect in MLB. He hit .281 with 19 home runs last season, after hitting .287 with 18 home runs the year before. He is currently 20 years old and the most polished hitter in the Reds farm system.
RHP Sheng-En Lin
En Lin is a 21-year-old right-handed pitcher who was originally signed as a two-way player, but this past season began focusing purely on pitching, leading to a 3.84 ERA in 61 innings for the Daytona Tortugas.
He signed with the Reds out of Taiwan in 2023 and is probably the Reds' most league-ready, proven minor-league pitcher. En Lin will have a chance to get innings for the Reds in 2027, given their current lack of depth.
