Alright, what are the Colorado Rockies going to do, or not do, with catcher Hunter Goodman? Tea leaves are blowing in the wind.

On Monday morning, catcher Hunter Goodman remained a member of the Colorado Rockies as the MLB Trade Deadline is now in its final hours,

Between 10-11 hours as of this writing, Goodman could be on another team. That, though, looks to be moving further and further into the background. The Rockies would not look too smart if they shipped away Goodman at this time.

There is some fresh intel on Monday morning when it comes to Colorado and Goodman. A fresh MLB.com report offered some insights.

"While Colorado hasn't taken Goodman off the table entirely, sources told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Aug. 1 that the Rockies' asking price remains 'extremely high,'" according to the MLB.com report.

"That follows a similar report from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal on Thursday. Rosenthal reported that the Rockies were asking for teams' top overall prospects while noting that the Rays, Red Sox and Yankees were among the clubs to talk to Colorado about Goodman."

In other words, Colorado wants the moon and the stars from other MLB clubs regarding a deal for Goodman's services.

So, Rockies fans have to take a wait-and-see attitude about the trade deadline activities.

Besides Goodman, other Colorado players mentioned in trade chatter include Antonio Senzatela, Michael Lorenzen, Jake McCarthy, and Mickey Moniak. Kyle Freeland also has seen his name among trade candidates, but he sure made it tough for the Rockies to deal him.

For the first time in his MLB career on Sunday, Freeland threw a complete game as Colorado finished off a weekend sweep of the Kansas City Royals. Additionally, the sweep moved the Rockies within two games of fourth place, where the San Francisco Giants are now.

Imagine Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes looking at which players are available right now. They also might be looking at the overall structure of their on-field team, thinking of making a move or two to help them navigate the future.

This season's record isn't anything to write home about, for sure. Yet this Rockies team has continued to play hard, even when making mistakes and errors in the field. Colorado manager Warren Schaeffer obviously has a plan of action that he's passed down to his players. That plan continues to unfold.

The MLB Trade Deadline officially ends at 6 p.m. ET on early Monday evening on the East Coast. Maybe the Rockies decide not to trade anyone and just roll into another postseason without a playoff appearance.
