Boston Red Sox come into Coors Field on Monday night to start three-game series with Colorado Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox are both coming off weekend series wins. On Monday night, both teams open up a three-game series at Coors Field.
These two teams have struggled record-wise this season. In fact, things got so bad for Boston that the franchise fired manager Alex Cora and much of his coaching staff earlier this month. Cora led the Red Sox to a 10-17 start, which wasn't acceptable. Brian Tracy is currently interim manager for Boston.
Where does Boston sit right now? In last place in the American League East Division with a 31-44 record, 14.5 games behind their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees.
And now, for the Rockies. Colorado, despite losing on Sunday, picked up a series victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Coors Field. The Rockies are 30-48 overall, just 1.5 games behind the fading San Francisco Giants in the National League West Division.
It's been a pretty good stretch for Colorado as far as winning series are concerned. Before the All-Star break in 2025, the Rockies had just two series wins. This season, though, those series wins are in double digits.
Projected Pitching Matchups
With all of that information, let's now turn some attention to the projected starting pitchers for each game between the Red Sox and Rockies.
Monday, June 22: Ryan Feltner vs. Jake Bennett
Feltner will take the mound on Monday night with a 2-2 record and a 5.05 ERA. Bennett is 1-3 with a 4.79 ERA.
Tuesday, June 23: Sean Sullivan vs. Sonny Gray
Sullivan is currently 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA for the Rockies. On the other hand, Gray has been stellar for the Red Sox in a down season for the team. Gray is 8-1 overall with a dandy 3.12 ERA.
Wednesday, June 24: Kyle Freeland vs. Ranger Suarez
Freeland is 1-7 this season with a hefty 7.36 ERA. Suarez is 3-3 with a 2.93 ERA for Boston
All games will be on Rockes.TV. Monday and Tuesday night's games will start at 6:40 p.m. MT. On Wednesday, Rockies fans can take in an afternoon game at 1:10 p.m. MT.
Month by Month for Rockies
Let's be honest. If Colorado had played at or near .500 ball in May, then they'd probably already be in fourth place past the Giants. As you can see, though, the Rockies have been making inroads toward a better overall record.
According to the Rockies' media information department, the team went 14-18 in March and April. That's a pretty respectable start to the 2026 season. But, in May, Colorado only went 8-20. So far in June, the team is 8-9.
If they can get their stuff together the rest of June, the Rockies can head into July with some momentum.
And, the Rockies have a good chance to doing so with another series win this season against Boston.
