TJ Shook found his way into his first MLB game on Tuesday night, helping the Colorado Rockies defeat the Los Angeles Angels 8-2 at LA Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

Shook worked a solid eighth inning, allowing one hit, no earned runs, didn't walk a batter, and didn't record a strikeout.

But his work on the mound got a lot of respect for Shook from his new teammates. Shook left the field and cameras caught a dugout full of Rockies players make their way to tell him thanks and gave him kudos.

Juan Mejia worked a solid ninth inning, kept the Angels off the scoreboard, and that was it for another Rockies win.

Colorado has one more game against the Angels, then will get a day off. But they will travel to the Midwest for a three-game weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers. They'll then head to Chicago for a series against the Chicago Cubs.

Putting wins together right now can give the Rockies some momentum going forward on this road trip.

Shook even was the postgame player interviewed on Rockies television. He expressed a lot of joy about being at the major-league level. Shook even had family members present in Anaheim, Calif., on Tuesday night.

Keep your eyes on Shook in the coming games. Getting another valuable arm in the Rockies' bullpen can help Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer make some late-game decisions a bit better.

As for the Rockies' offense on Tuesday night, there were plenty of home runs. There even was a home run that brought back memories of former major-leaguer Jose Canseco.

Hunter Goodman hit his 15th home run this season, a solo shot in the top of the second inning. Willi Castro slammed his third home run, a three-run shot, in the top of the fourth inning.

TJ Rumfield hit his eighth home run over the right-field wall. Well, Rumfield didn't actually clear the fence all by himself. Angels right fielder Jo Adell went back to catch the fly ball, but it hit off his glove, then his head, and went over the fence.

Adell's head-butting act on the home run reminded MLB fans of the time Canseco had a ball bounce off his head and go over the fence against the old Cleveland Indians (now the Cleveland Guardians). Canseco's play at the old Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, has been replayed thousands of times over the years.

Angels starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez gave up all three of Colorado's home runs. In 3.2 innings, Rodriguez gave up eight hits, eight earned runs, walked three, and struck out three. Rodriguez falls to 2-2 this season.

The Rockies may not have an impressive record as June begins in the 2026 MLB season. But they are making strides, and Rockies fans should feel positive about the team despite its really rough start.

Hopefully, Colorado can take advantage of their momentum from this series before moving on to two more series against the Brewers and Cubs.
