The Colorado Rockies scored a run in the middle of Saturday afternoon's game against the Atlanta Braves, but the Braves came back with two runs later to pick up a victory.
Zach Agnos answered the hotline when the Colorado Rockies called for his services on Saturday.
Entering the game at Truist Park in Atlanta, the Rockies had to make a quick switch for their starting pitcher. Ryan Feltner was originally slated to start, but he had to miss his start due to being sick.
That's where Agnos stepped up and came into the game against the Atlanta Braves. Agnos worked 2.2 innings, giving up two hits, no earned runs, walked one, and struck out one. Nick Frasso, Brendan Bernardino, and Jimmy Herget followed Agnos and kept the Braves' hitters in check.
Jaden Hill came into the game in the bottom of the seventh inning and wasn't able to keep Atlanta off the scoreboard. He gave up three hits, two earned runs, didn't walk a batter, and struck out one. The thing that really hurt Hill was a lack of offense from the Colorado lineup.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Willi Castro singled to left field and Hunter Goodman scored to put the Rockies up 1-0.
Atlanta picked up the pace in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Mauricio Dubon singled to center field, and Matt Olson moved to third base. With two outs and runners on first and third base, Michael Harris II doubled to left field. Center fielder Cole Carrigg deflected the ball. Olson and Dubon scored on the play, putting the Braves up 2-1.
That's how this game ended, sending Colorado even closer to recording another 100-loss season. After losing Saturday's game, the Rockies are now 52-84 overall. Colorado is now 16 losses away from that 100-loss mark.
Braves reliever Brent Suter got the win in relief of starter Martin Perez, going 2.1 innings and allowing just two hits while striking out one. Didier Fuentes earned his third save this season, putting the stops to any Colorado thoughts of a comeback.
The Rockies had hoped to not be in this position heading into September. They still have a chance to not get 100 losses in the 2026 MLB season, but they have to get themselves together to do so.
Mason Adams gets the start on Sunday for the Rockies, while Tyler Mahle goes to the mound for the Braves. Colorado has a tough assignment facing themselves on Sunday, so they need to come into the game with a well-planned strategy.
