Colorado Rockies shipped outfielder Brenton Doyle to the Chicago White Sox for a couple of prospects as the franchise looks forward to next season already.
With the MLB Trade Deadline activity winding down on Monday, the Colorado Rockies were busy a few hours earlier by sending outfielder Brenton Doyle to the Chicago White Sox.
In exchange for Doyle, the White Sox sent minor-league right-handed pitcher Mason Adams and shortstop Carlos Vielma to Colorado.
Doyle started finding his time in center field getting squeezed by the impressive play of rookie Cole Carrigg. Carrigg has been putting up some highlight-reel catches this season and has backed that up with a solid eye at the plate.
This was the first of the deals on Monday for Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes. Later on Monday, the team sent pitcher Antonio Senzatela to the Milwaukee Brewers for a couple of prospects.
With minutes remaining in the trade deadline, catcher Hunter Goodman remains with the ballclub. A report indicated that Goodman was working on his hitting and was still with the team. So, for now, it appears that Goodman will remain in Colorado.
In the 2026 MLB season, Doyle has a slash line of .214/.282/.569 with one home run and nine stolen bases.
Doyle, though, is another Rockies player who goes from a last-place team in the National League to a first-place team in the American League. The White Sox are in the running to reach the MLB postseason.
If Doyle can come into the South Side of Chicago and help shore up any deficiencies in the White Sox outfield, then the trade will prove valuable.
The Rockies have been looking to sell off some players in the hopes of rebuilding the franchise into a winner. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer has been steadfast in forming the team into his own image, along with insight from DePodesta and Byrnes.
Right now, as the MLB Trade Deadline officially reached its end, Colorado can look at where it's standing with the players left at this time.
Yet, there are still deals that can be made. The Rockies are looking forward past this season as their overall record is still not good. It is better than last season, though. Rockies fans probably don't want to go through another losing season.
These prospects that are coming to the team and franchise at this time can come in, when they reach the major leagues, and show they belong in the MLB show.
