Seth Halvorsen's time with the Colorado Rockies ended on Monday as the ballclub traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
On Monday, the Colorado Rockies started making moves as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches on Aug. 3. Reliever Seth Halvorsen was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for two players from the Dodgers' system.
Halvorsen has been somewhat productive out of the Rockies' bullpen, but his latest work has not put him in a good light.
The Rockies might make the Halvorsen trade their first salvo in doing some work on their 40-man roster.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post put up this note on X on Monday about the trade.
Halvorsen is being sent down the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. He will have time to work on some things and learn the Dodgers way of pitching.
Halvorsen going to National League West leaders
The Dodgers, of course, are leading the National League West Division and are double-digit games ahead of the Rockies in the standings.
Now, the question becomes who will be traded next by Colorado president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta?
Los Angeles sent prospects Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek to the Rockies, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman for the New York Post.
According to the Rockies' media department, Frasso, 27, was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster on June 6 when the club transferred right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day Injured List, but has spent the entirety of the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Nick Frasso goes to Triple-A Albuquerque
Frasso will report to Triple-A Albuquerque. He has gone 1-0 with a 4.74 ERA (24.2 IP, 13 ER), 17 walks and 40 strikeouts in 21 appearances (one start) with Oklahoma City while allowing just two home runs.
In 108 total Minor League appearances (51 starts) since 2021, the Torrance, Calif., native has gone 11-7 with a 3.90 ERA (253.2 IP, 110 ER), 109 walks and 299 strikeouts. Frasso transitioned to a reliever after the 2023 season, making 56 of his 57 career relief appearances the past two seasons.
Frasso was acquired by the Dodgers via trade with the Toronto Blue Jays on Aug. 2, 2022, along with Minor League left-handed pitcher Moises Brito, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mitch White and infielder Alex De Jesus.
Who is Landyn Vidourek?
Vidourek, 22, was selected by Los Angeles in the third round of the 2025 Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He will go to Single-A Fresno. Vidourek has appeared in 61 total Minor League games in 2026, 59 of them with Single-A Ontario.
The left-handed hitter has hit .170/.332/.311 with nine doubles, one triple, six home runs, 24 RBI and nine stolen bases with Ontario. Vidourek appeared in 16 games with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in his first professional season in 2025, batting .313/.378/.463 with five doubles, one triple and one home run.
Oh, his last name is pronounced vih-DURR-ek.
Fallout for Rockies?
What will the fallout be from this move? Time will tell, but Halvorsen now goes to a franchise that is searching for its third straight World Series championship. It's possible that Halvorsen doesn't get to the majors again this season.
Yet the Dodgers do need help in their bullpen. So, it could be possible that Halvorsen does get a call-up either in a week or two, or in September.
