The past 10 games have sent the Colorado Rockies much, much closer to a century mark of losses once again.

If Colorado Rockies fans were looking for a silver lining to the 2026 MLB season, then that lining is disappearing.

The Rockies lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. That loss put Colorado just 14 losses away from 100 once again. It's been a slide down the road for a team looking for something to pin their hopes on for next season.

In their last 10 games, they have gone 2-8 and also have lost five in a row. The Rockies will not get into fourth place in the National League West Division unless they get hot right now.

A lot of losing for Rockies

Entering Tuesday night's game at Coors Field against the Orioles, Colorado is 27-39 at home and 35-54 on the road for a 52-86 overall record. In order to not put up another 100-loss season, the Rockies need to go 11-13 in September.

While there have been highlights this season, including the play of young guys like Cole Carrigg and TJ Rumfield, those lowlights have been taking center stage.

Rumfield currently leads all NL rookies in batting average (.289) and OBP (.380), and he ranks second in OPS (.817) and slugging percentage (.437). Overall, in the NL, Rumfield is fifth in OBP and ninth in average.

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer has done a commendable job in getting this team more competitive this season. Case in point: Colorado's 52 wins this season are the most through 136 games since 2022, when the Rockies were 57-79. The ballclub won a game on Aug. 1, which put them above the 43-win mark from 2025.

Of course, Schaeffer has had to make a lot of walks to the pitching mound. That starting rotation really has not been strong this season. Tomoyuki Sugano has been a player who has been the highlight of the starters.

Defense in the outfield has improved, albeit still showing some growing pains.

August was not a good month

For August, Colorado went 9-19 in the month. The Rockies were 7-9 on the road and 2-10 at Coors Field. Along with that data, Colorado is in the midst of a 13-game consecutive days stretch.

Looking at how the Rockies have been playing recently and what record the team needs to put up so that a 100-loss season is avoided, the players need to get it together.

Colorado has lost seven straight home games dating back to the last six-game homestand, where it lost all of those games. They have lost 10 straight games at home dating to Aug. 3, too.

The clock is ticking right now. Can Colorado pull some things together and start winning some games starting on Tuesday night? Fans will be watching very, very closely.
