Over their upcoming three games, the Colorado Rockies are not going to find them a walk in the park. The Rockies, who just finished a series win over the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field, head to Los Angeles.

This time, though, Colorado will go up against the back-to-back defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. In case you needed a reminder, Rockies fans, the Dodgers are high up there in the lead in the National League West Division. 

For now, the Rockies are in last place in the NL West. But they are just one game out of fourth place behind the Giants. This early-week series, which leads into another three-game series against San Francisco at Oracle Park, will be worth watching.

Can the Rockies catch lightning in a bottle and snag a win, maybe two, against the Dodgers? That's a tough ask for the ballclub. Yet it has shown a resiliency to rally from behind when down early. Colorado will need that type of resiliency to show up in a big way at Chavez Ravine.

Also, these Dodgers and Giants series will lead the Rockies right into the All-Star break. Catcher Hunter Goodman has his ticket punched to the MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia next week. He now has a chance to show the Dodgers, Giants, and the MLB world that he's worthy of the selection.

A few other players on both ballclubs want to make a statement, too, in this series.

Let's take a look at the probable starters for the Rockies and Dodgers in this series.

Monday, July 6: Rockies' Kyle Freeland vs. Dodgers' Eric Lauer

Freeland gets the ball for Monday night's opener. He is 2-7 overall with a 7.25 ERA, but he's shown signs here and there that he can put together a solid start. Freeland needs to bring the best version of himself to Dodger Stadium.

Lauer has an impressive 3-0 record with a nifty 2.88 ERA. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hopes that Lauer can maintain this level of performance against Colorado.

Tuesday, July 7: Rockies' Michael Lorenzen vs. Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski

Hoo boy, talk about a big test for Rockies' hitters. 

Lorenzen is currently 3-9 this season with a 6.91 ERA. He will need to throw strikes, and plenty of them, against a potent Dodgers' lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and others from top to bottom.

Wrobleski has been simply magnificent for Los Angeles so far. He's put together a solid 10-2 record and Wrobleski, too, has a pretty sweet 2.80 ERA.

Wednesday, July 8: Rockies' Ryan Feltner vs. Dodgers' Roki Sasaki

This might be a stretch, but Sasaki has not looked good overall for the Dodgers this season. He's 3-5 with a 5.40 ERA and just hasn't been able to provide a steadying influence to the Los Angeles pitching rotation.

Goodman, Cole Carrigg, Jake McCarthy, and other Colorado hitters can attack Sasaki early and often. If that happens, then it might be another night where Roberts comes out and sends Sasaki to an early shower.

Feltner enters Wednesday's matchup with a 3-2 overall record and a 4.27 ERA. He, too, needs to throw a ton of strikes and keep Dodgers hitters on their toes.
