It's crunch time for the Colorado Rockies to put more space between them and 100 losses. The Seattle Mariners come into Coors Field for a three-game weekend series.
This season, the Seattle Mariners came into their 2026 MLB schedule with high hopes on building from what they accomplished last season.
At this point, the Mariners are pretty much out of the postseason picture. Not officially yet, but it's pretty close. Catcher Cal Raleigh, who had a whale of a season in 2025, has not been able to repeat that at all. It's been one of the major stories that has been a part of the MLB world.
Beginning on Friday night, the Mariners are coming in to play the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series at Coors field. The Rockies are in a pinch as they look to avoid getting 100 losses this season. Colorado needs to come out and smash the Rockies, winning two of these three games or even sweeping Seattle back to the Pacific Northwest.
In looking at the starting pitchers for this series, it might turn into a bullpen-dominant series unless these starters can find a way to turn their own seasons around.
Rockies vs. Mariners: Probable Starters
Colorado has not named a starter for Friday night, but the Rockies are going to throw out Gabriel Hughes and Tomoyuki Sugano as starters.
Friday, Sept. 18: TBD vs. RHP Bryan Woo (12-9, 3.88 ERA)
We'll all have to wait and see who Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer gives the ball to as a starter here. Bryan Woo should not be ignored at all. His 12-9 record and pretty decent ERA (in this day and age of MLB) indicates that he's been able to lean into his arsenal of pitches and perform well. This will be a challenge for Colorado.
Saturday, Sept. 19: RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-8, 6.37) vs. RHP Bryce Miller (4-9, 4.19)
Boy oh boy, can Gabriel Hughes find a spot here to have a solid start? That record and ERA are not good, so he's got to find another gear at a pretty decent Mariners' batting order. Bryce Miller, despite the record and ERA, has shown signs at times to be one of those Seattle starters that can turn a game in his favor.
Sunday, Sept. 20: RHP Tomoyuki Sugano (12-10, 5.49) vs. LHP Kade Anderson (1-2, 5.33)
Tomoyuki Sugano was not sharp in his last start and the Rockies need him to find his winning touch one again. Kade Anderson might be able to also find another gear and bring the Mariners a series-closing victory.

On Friday night, the Rockies-Mariners game will pop up on Rockies.TV and KTVD Ch. 20 in the Denver area. Saturday's and Sunday's games will be on Rockies.TV.
Friday and Saturday night's first pitch is set for 6:10 p.m. MT, and Sunday's series finale is scheduled to begin at 1:10 p.m. MT.
Rockies fans can tune into KOA Radio to hear the team's radio broadcast.
