Break time is now over for the Colorado Rockies, but they still get to stay home for three more days.

That's because the Cincinnati Reds are coming to the Mile High City for a three-game weekend series at Coors Field. On Friday night, the two teams open up second-half action with the Reds' Brady Singer going to the mound against the Rockies' Gabriel Hughes.

Cincinnati and Colorado are in last place in their respective divisions. The Reds are currently 43-52 and 15.5 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central Division.

As for the Rockies, they are a half-game ahead of the Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Angels for the worst record in all of MLB. In the NL West, Colorado is 22.5 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers at 39-59. The Rockies are three games behind the San Francisco Giants for fourth place in the NL West.

Both the Reds and Rockies have a chance to get off on the right foot for the rest of the MLB 2026 regular season. Colorado is 22-25 at Coors Field, so the Rockies have a chance to add to their Coors Field win total against Cincinnati.

Let's take a look at the probable starters for this weekend series.

Friday, July 17: Reds' Brady Singer vs. Rockies' Gabriel Hughes

Brady Singer hasn't had a great season as he's currently 3-9 this season with a 4.72 ERA. He's struck out 76 batters and has a 1.47 WHIP right now. Singer is in his seventh MLB season and second with the Reds.

Gabriel Hughes was recalled from the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes a couple of weeks ago. Right now, Hughes is 0-0 with 3.00 ERA. He's appeared in two games, starting one of them.

Maybe Hughes can give some length on the mound for Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer. Hughes has eight strikeouts this season in limited action with a 1.00 WHIP.

Saturday, July 18: Reds' Rhett Lowder vs. Rockies' TBA

Rhett Lowder currently has a 3-6 record for the Reds with a 4.91 ERA. He has 59 strikeouts and a 1.54 WHIP. Lowder had an awful May for the Reds, working only 4.1 innings but giving up 11 earned runs. He finished May with an 0-2 record and stifling 22.85 ERA.

Rockies fans will have to wait and see who Schaeffer selects to go out there on Saturday afternoon. He does have options in his bullpen, so Schaeffer might give one of his long relievers a chance to pick up a victory.

Sunday, July 19: Reds' Hunter Greene vs. Rockies' Ryan Feltner

Hunter Greene, considered the ace of the Reds' pitching staff, is 1-1 for Cincinnati with a sky-high 6.97 ERA. He's in his fifth season of pitching for Cincinnati and his best seasons were back in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, Greene was 9-5 with a 2.75 ERA, while in 2026, Greene finished that season at 7-4 with a 2.76 ERA.

He missed the start of the 2026 season due to undergoing arthroscopic surgery back in March 2026. The surgery was done to take out bone spurs and loose bodies from his right elbow. So, Greene is still going through his own Spring Training at this time. His first start in 2026 was on the Fourth of July.

As for Ryan Feltner, he is 3-3 this season with a 4.55 ERA. He's struck out 47 batters and he has a 1.29 WHIP. Feltner is in his sixth season with the Rockies, and his season records with Colorado have not been good. Let's see if Feltner can get off to a good start in this Sunday afternoon start at Coors Field.
