Senzatela Didn't Have Best Stuff as Marlins Sink Rockies
Jun 30, 2026 3:54 AM

Antonio Senzatela, usually reliable out of the Colorado Rockies' bullpen, gave up some runs to the Miami Marlins as they beat Colorado Rockies. But Hunter Goodman remained hot at the plate.

Colorado Rockies fans, what else can you say about first baseman Hunter Goodman? On Monday night at Coors Field, despite the Rockies losing to the Miami Marlins, Goodman hit his 26th home run this season.

He put himself among some legendary Rockies players. Antonio Senzatela came out of the bullpen, though, and just was off on the mound. Senzatela gave up some runs as the Marlins beat the Rockies 10-7 on Monday night.

We'll get to Senzatela and the rest of the game in Denver in a minute.

Hunter Goodman on a Heater

Let's clear the lanes, though, for Goodman. He now holds the franchise record for most home runs by a Rockies player before July. Goodman ranks ahead of Todd Helton and Nolan Arenado, who are in a group of players now trailing Goodman.

Oh, besides that home run, Goodman also had a double.

Colorado starter Sean Sullivan went 4.2 innings, giving up six hits, five earned runs, walked two, struck out five, and allowed one home run. Reliever Victor Vodnik followed Sullivan and gave up two hits and one earned run in 1.1 innings of work.

Senzatela came on in the top of the seventh and only got through two-thirds of an inning. He gave up four hits, four earned runs, walked one, and didn't strike out a batter. Senzatela threw 27 pitches while on the mound.

Miami jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Colorado answered with three runs in their half of the second. Ezequiel Tovar had an RBI sacrifice fly, and Jake McCarthy posted a two-run double,

The Rockies then scored two runs in the bottom of the third to get a 5-2 advantage. Colorado's big hit was Kyle Karros' two-run double.

Marlins Make Lots of Contact

The Marlins bounced back with a four-run fifth to take a 6-5 lead. Otto Lopez hit a solo home run, followed by Griffin Conine's three-run blast. Miami added on with their four-run seventh inning, bumping up their lead to 10-5. Joe Mack's RBI single and Javier Sanoja's bases-clearing triple were the big hits for Miami.

Colorado answered in the bottom of the seventh on Goodman's homer, cutting into Miami's advantage at 10-6.

With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, the Marlins were still comfortably ahead 10-6. So, if the Rockies are going to have one of their patented comebacks, then they will need to start swinging those bats and making solid contact.

Colorado did tack on a run in the bottom of the ninth on Mickey Moniak's RBI groundout, and that made it 10-7. McCarthy moved to third and Goodman and TJ Rumfield were up next. Goodman, though, struck out and Rumfield grounded out, sending the Rockies to another tough loss.

The Marlins and Rockies are going to play the second game of this four-game series on Tuesday night at Coors Field.
