Colorado Rockies outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy, along with relief pitcher Antonio Senzatela, are drawing interest from other MLB teams right now.
Let's face some stone-cold truth about the Colorado Rockies right now. Sitting 20 games below .500 and three games behind the San Francisco Giants for fourth place in the National League West Division does not paint a pretty picture heading into the second half of the 2026 season.
More than likely, Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta will look to make some deals. The MLB Trade Deadline is coming up on August 3.
Who might be involved in those potential future trades? Three players have drawn interest from around the major leagues. They are outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy, along with relief pitcher Antonio Senzatela.
What have these players been doing this season and which MLB teams are expressing interest in them? Well, let's size up the situation for each player.
Outfielder Mickey Moniak
For a little while, Mickey Moniak's name has found itself connected to the Houston Astros. In looking at the Astros' situation, that team needs a steady outfielder who cannot only provide defense but a punch at the plate.
Astros right fielder Cam Smith is growing up in the big leagues, but he's not making consistent enough contact. Taylor Trammell, who has been playing in all three outfield spots this season, has some pop in his bat but, again, is not consistent. Longtime center fielder Jake Meyers is now at Triple-A Sugar Land, too.
Moniak can bring a level of both punch at the plate and solid defense in the outfield.
It's possible that Moniak might not be on the Rockies either before or after the August 3 trade deadline. He'll be a Colorado name to watch closely.
Outfielder Jake McCarthy
Talk about a true hustler on the field. Jake McCarthy has shown time and again that he's willing to go to any lengths for the Rockies.
He's always willing to go for an extra base if he can get it. Also, McCarthy has developed a knack for inside-the-park home runs, too.
McCarthy is another name tied to the Astros. As mentioned when writing about Moniak's future, McCarthy can provide another potent bat to the Astros' lineup and give a boost to the outfield situation.
Rockies fans have fallen in love with McCarthy's style of playing baseball. It would be tough to see him go, but DePodesta might just be looking toward the future.
Relief pitcher Antonio Senzatela
When it comes to reliever Antonio Senzatela, he's been outstanding in relief for Schaeffer and the Rockies this season. He currently has a 9-2 record with a 3.31 ERA. Senzatela has appeared in 30 games and picked up three saves.
In 49 innings this season, Senzatela has struck out 42 batters and has a 1.22 WHIP.
But the New York Yankees and San Diego Padres have reportedly shown interest in him.
Even with fireballer Mason Miller as the Padres' closer, the team still needs an arm to show up as a good set-up man. Senzatela fits that role quite nicely.
Of course, the Yankees have enough to come calling for a pick-me-up in Senzatela.
Now, the next question becomes this one: What will DePodesta do with these three players. Will they stay with Colorado or find new places to play ball?
All Rockies fans can do is sit and wait to see what happens.
