The frustration is very real. This is, unfortunately, a rather easy series for me to write about because I can just come on here and vent all of my frustrations, and the frustrations were aplenty in this series against the Twins. I’m too disgusted with this team right now to really watch any of the postgame stuff or listen to what AJ Hinch has to say. I’m a little bit tired of the reassurance. That’s five losses in a row. You just got swept by the Minnesota team that some people predicted to finish in last place, you have outfielders colliding with each other (hopefully Parker Meadows can recover quickly), and you have an offense that is every bit as terrible as it was in the latter part of last season.
I don’t need a players-only meeting or some grand gesture to show that the team is aware of how poorly they’re playing right now. I need to see results. Come back home against the Marlins and start looking like a real baseball team again. You’ve reached a point in this start where the concerns are legitimate, even if you completely ignore how this team finished last season. This is a team with the worst record in the American League right now, and I would argue that it's pretty much doing nothing right. The defensive fundamentals have been poor, and the offense is absolutely unwatchable. I am so tired of this overrated core of Avila players. Congrats to Riley Greene, he got a meaningless double today. At this point, we’re more likely to witness the rapture than we are to see Riley Greene or Spencer Torkelson get a clutch hit with runners and scoring position.
Could this team be pressing a little bit? Maybe, possibly, sure, I don’t know. I really don’t care. I don’t want to sound too cold, but I really am not taking people's feelings into account right now. I don’t care how cold the weather was, I don’t care how brutal the conditions were, or if the numbers indicate that you got a little bit unlucky. You are presenting yourself like a bad baseball team. Figure it out, or people will lose interest by Memorial Day.
