I love creating content. And the best thing about having so much of my life on video is the fact that it’s permanent. Now, there are definite downsides to that, and I’ve had to learn that the hard way, but overall, I view the things I create as a diary of my life. Doing a show like Chris and Company is no exception. Having the opportunity to talk to former and current Tigers is really unique.

I don’t plan on writing a whole lot about my experience with grief. This is a personal matter, and it’s going to be dealt with personally. Still, I love that I can use my ridiculous memory to share some pretty awesome memories with my family. Sports, more than anything, have brought my friends and family together through the years. I’m never going to be somebody who buys into the idea that something is just a game. This is truly an experience for a lot of us, and I had the chance to tell Sean Casey a story like that this week.

Growing up, I always had this insane, random trivia brain. I would remember dates and teams, and my parents hoped that at some point, I’d be able to put that to good use. A random Saturday in which the Tigers played in the postseason and Michigan and Michigan State played each other in football, probably just felt like another day for a long time, but in the aftermath of my father‘s passing, those memories hit a lot harder.

My father was not a super excitable person. He was not a big crier. I’m glad that he wasn’t the only one who liked to see their parents cry. He was not the rambunctious type when it came to sports like I was, but every so often that stoic veil of his would be lifted and you’d see the kid and him come out. 2006 was the kind of baseball season that I think brought the kid out in all of us.

The Sean Casey interview is one of the proudest interviews that I’ve had the chance to do in my career. He was a very easy person to talk to. Just sit back and let him tell unique anecdotes about his time in Detroit. I could’ve talked to him for hours, but I appreciate him as my guest, allowing me the opportunity to share this moment with him. You can check out the rest of the interview down below.
