Byron Buxton has played his entire career in a Minnesota Twins uniform, and if he has it his way, that is never going to change.
The two-time All-Star recently sat down with MLB Network and shared how he feels about the city that has been home for over a decade.
"There's nothing I wouldn't do for that city," Buxton said.
Those words carry a whole lot of weight when you look at everything Buxton has been through with the Twins over the years, from all the injuries that kept him off the field early in his career to the constant trade rumors that followed him all offseason after Minnesota's fire sale at the 2025 deadline.
Minnesota drafted Buxton with the second overall pick back in 2012 out of Appling County High School in Georgia, and he made his big league debut in 2015.
Over 11 seasons, he owns a career .248 batting average with 168 home runs and 436 RBIs while also winning a Gold Glove in 2017.
Injuries kept him from putting it all together over a full year, but 2025 changed that.
Buxton played in 126 games last year and posted career highs with 35 home runs and 83 RBIs while slashing .264/.327/.551 and earning his first Silver Slugger.
He also became the first player to hit for the cycle at Target Field on July 12 against the Pirates, doing it on his own bobblehead night.
His 4.9 WAR was among the best by a Twin in recent memory, and MLB Network recognized that by ranking him as the third-best center fielder in baseball heading into 2026.
Despite finishing 70-92 last season and sitting at 4-10-1 in spring training, the Twins should not even think about moving Buxton.
He holds a full no-trade clause as part of his seven-year, $100 million deal that runs through 2028 and has said over and over that he wants to stay.
After the Twins moved 11 players at the 2025 deadline, Buxton flew to Cleveland to be in the clubhouse and hold things together.
He showed up at spring training under new manager Derek Shelton wanting the front office to shut down the trade noise so he could focus on leading the young players.
At 32, Buxton is still one of the most dynamic players in baseball with his rare combination of power, speed and elite defense in center field.
The Twins are in a rebuild, but having Buxton at the center of it gives them someone the fans can rally around and the young guys can look up to.
When a player says there is nothing he would not do for a city, you believe him, and Buxton has backed it up for 11 years.
